My mother had that . I was waiting impatiently for her to fall asleep so I could rest myself . It was almost one hour before I realized she’s not staring at the tv zombie-like but was asleep the whole time . Very SCARY

Rabbits (and most certainly some other animals) seem to sleep with open eyes. They have a second eyelid. This is to confuse predators to think they are awake.
