I love watching starlings swooping and diving in unison!

Kiwozzie
Love watching them and am amazed how there is not one 'un-co' starling that bumps into another! Precision flying at it's finest!

Player #9442102, Doesn't explain why it only happens at a certain time of year! Starlings are subjected to predation all year round.

Bear
A noted stat; science engineers have been able to mimic this phenomenon two dimensionally (if memory serves me correctly) via computer imaging but not in lifelike 3d. They do agree mostly that the birds react not so much as pairings during murmerings, but rather groupings of 10 or so within the flock that give we humans this groovy spectacle.
