IIRC, Demeter was so upset by her daughter's abduction, she let the earth become barren. Zeus freed Persephone, but because she'd eaten a few pomegranate seeds while being held captive, she had to return to Hades for that number of (weeks/months?) each year and that's why we have winter when the land is barren - dimly recalled from childhood reading. Those Olympians were some messed up folks - pretty much like some of the current ruling class. Some things never change.

Mythologies/ faiths/ religions/ cults/ beliefs/ etc. (pick a term you prefer, they are all interchangeable). It is groovy to learn the different lores of old and new. To each their own. Most mythologies and religions have stories/ story lines that are somewhat similar and interchangeable if not almost completely identical copies. Research.

Even in mythology males are perverts and rapists. As in the case of Hades kidnapping and raping Persephone
