RedSeaDiver, As with many members of the Eastern Orthodox Church we wear ours on the right hand. The custom of the left hand came after the Roman Catholic Church broke away from the Eastern Orthodox Church, adopted and restyled many 'pagan' traditions and became the predominant religion in the western part of Europe.

I really hoped it was the wiping one!

In Germany they wear wedding ring on the 3rd finger of their right hand. I've been a guest at at a wedding of friends there.

Wondering.. Is it proven scientifically? That the vein connected to the heart?
RedSeaDiver
Why do Eastern Europeans wear them on their third finger, RIGHT hand?
Umo
Christmas too was a pagan festival incorporated into Christianity just to appease the converts so that they would not miss their favorite festival which used to be garrulous with a lot of consumption in form of alcohol and meat…that continues to this day.
RushMama2112
Blooply, agreed! Maybe use ones passed down through generations. They are a good choice for many reasons.

so amazing how much of what we do today is linked to ancient history

Stephanie.S., yes, it is the right hand but it's also the fourth finger, which is called Ringfinger in German. I think there's translation needed. If you are officially engaged, you wear a ring left. But that's a dying tradition.
addam
RedSeaDiver,
cause they married the wrong person hahaha
BOO 🦋
Ring finger isn’t the 4th finger from thumb. Ding ding ding

It was very interesting for me, but not because of te "love vein " I heard it before. I think in the main part of Europe people wear it on the right hand after the wedding. Before the wedding we wear it on the left. What I didn't know that in the USA it is different. Thanks for the information!

Rahimah_91, all veins eventually lead to the heart, but it is interesting that the vein is for depleted blood which needs to be revitalized.
wesley
Umo, right, and Saturnalia took place near the end of December, so that became the birthday of Jesus also to win over pagans.
