ccmomma, They will probably remake it or update it or whatever they do now to movies, but no matter what they do, this version will always be the best version.

Movies are not history lessons. At the time GWTW was written, the myth of the "Happy Slave" was alive and well. Ms Mitchell apparently believed it. This is why the book and movie have been criticized. Mammy, Poke, and Prissy loved their owners so very much that they stayed with them after Emancipation. The reality is that house slaves were routinely raped and beaten. They were under constant threat of being sent from the house to the fields, where they would be under the whip of the Overseer. No one is happy when they live under threat, no one is happy to live in fear, and NO ONE is happy if they are not free.

This is a movie,, when the book was written it was a different time. I am part Native American and I am nit going to criticize an author because now the times are different. Things get better with time . I am certainly nit going to criticize Mark Twain because of the words he used and I cannot criticize the author of Gone With the Wind,

I hope the movie continues to be on TV. This was how life was at that time. It’s not like that anymore. Movies are history lessons in time.
