Surprising how many people are not familiar with hominy. A great side dish with pork and is used also in Mexican soup called Posole. Grits made from hominy are wonderful served with traditional Southern breakfast of eggs and bacon, sausage or ham.

Yuk. I'd have to be starving to eat that. As a kid I hated creamed corn.

GRITS ARE LIKE A CEREAL YOU ADD BUTTER AND SALT. NO MILK IS NECESSARY. MOST SOUTHERN AREAS LIVE ON GRITS AND EGGS.

not a cereal, however I put hominy in some of my quiche dishes and it's delicious. Kind of a southwestern spin with green chilies and cheese. Always a hit and so easy to make before ruuning off to work.

I remember watching my Dad make "skinned corn" in the back yard when I was a little girl. He used a big galvanized pot over an open fire & boiled it until the skins came off. I was only about 6 so don't know the details but it certainly didn't look like this picture. It looked more like the hominy you buy in the can. It was the Cherokee way & it was delicious.
