Why are Wimbledon tennis balls kept at a temperature of 68°F (20°C)?

You'd think the temperature inside the ball would rise pretty quickly once it's taken outside on a hot day

I might be way off on this. If the temperature affects the bounce... does that slow down or increase speed of play?

My tennis instructor never told me about how temperature affects tennis balls bounces
