TRUE CANADIAN Laurel, it's because the pineapples we eat today are genetically modified versions of the original fruit that the US commercialize. There are many other modified fruits and vegetable and foods that many do not know to be commercialized although the sounding seems bad, without these advancements we wouldn't have the abundance amount of foods available at ease at a cost of course.
