Who creates literary works that are officially credited to another person as the author?

I need a ghost writer to answer the sports questions in this game!

I still don't get why anyone would want to be a ghost writer. Or how someone could claim they wrote something they didn't.

Are they able to get residual royalties on the works?

I am a ghostwriter; I get paid, that is better than receiving credit.
