Never heard a Queenslander called a banana bender before, nor have I or any other Aussie I know ever said the words 'fair dinkim bonza' ... also just to clarify, I've never known anyone to ever throw shrimps on the barbie... !! Bloody croc dundee :)

This may have true 20-30 years ago, but I'm a Queenslander and people here don't talk like that any more. Time to update or change the question.

BabyC220613, I was born in Queensland in the late 50s - back in the 60s it was fairly common to hear other states call us Banana Benders. Probably not common now. I have heard people say ‘fair dinkum’ but that was mainly out west and in country areas and again not used much these days. But yes, we only put prawns on a barbie!

Oh dear, a collection of youngsters! Queenslanders were quite happy to be called banana benders until Joh Bielke Petersen fed his last chook and they got delusions of grandeur . New South Welshmen were crow eaters and South Australians were sandgropers , and by the way I lived in the city until I retired and I've never used the term nosh.

these are colloquial terms and you wont find people talking like that in the big cities. people very rural (out bush) may recognise these terms from way back.
