If your born with it ,you were suppose to have it. Stop doing this...and you call yourself and animal lover!

The explanation is chock full of baloney to try to justify this cruel practice.

Anna sewell the author of black beauty condemned this barbaric practice. it was done in the 19th century to make dogs more fashionable! I've never heard anything so ridiculous and appalling in my life.

I had a rescue dog with a docked tail. I always felt so sorry for her when she was happy to see us and could only wiggle the stump, instead of giving it a good wag.

baymax, Don't panic, you didn't see horses with their tails docked. All horses have a very short tail, but usually very long tail hair. Draught horses, that is, heavy horses, like Clydesdales, Shires, Suffolk Punch and the like, have their tail hair trimmed short. I guess this is to prevent the hair from getting tangled in the tack, reins, traces etc.

Lorraine , humans make that decision, animals have no choice or say in the matter.

Banned also in Australia. We had a Rottweiler who had been docked, when it was still allowed. My son bought a Rottweiler 2 years ago and now as a 2yo his tail is a menace! I do agree with the ban, but large dogs with strong long tails can do a lot of damage when inside!
