Just lake week watched a documentary on this subject. The government is encouraging the tourist industry and educating the locals which is now helping their numbers to increase. Sadly, poaching is still a problem, though not as bad.

As of 2018 the Mountain Gorilla is classed as endangered and there are more than 1000 of them in the wild. I hope that the positive trend is continuing.
