I have it, and so does my daughter. I thought it was rarer than 18 to 35% of the population.

N K E,
No, catarrh is a build-up of mucus in the back of the throat, nothing to do with the sun.
Catarrh is caused either by an upper respiratory illness, such as the common cold, or an allergy usually to pollen (hay fever)

Castra
Ted 882,
No, rhinitis is another name for the common cold.
It is caused by a viral infection.
It's actually called "viral rhinitis"

I've had this since I was a child. My daughter also has it. Such a nuisance.

Beautiful Torture
I had no idea this was actually “a thing”…as I’m part of the 18-35% effect but no one in my family, immediate as well as extended, are.

Every Sunday on our way to church down a beautiful tree-lined street, we would come to a clearing...and..
wait for it....mom would sneeze and laughter would ensue.

When I was in university, I would leave for class so early the sun would come up as i was riding on the bus and as soon a sunrays hit my face i would start sneezing repeatedly. it was so embarrassing that i would consciously ride on the opposite side of the sunrise to avoid sunlight directly on my face. i thought i was allergic to sunrise sunrays haha
