Which metal is known as cuprum?

Architecturally speaking - I love buildings which use copper (on the exterior) - it's beautiful and the petina over the years gives it even more character. It's just so expensive to use that way.

Unfortunately because of the rise in price of copper, many thefts from electrical lines, buuldings, even cemeteries - wherever there is copper.

Its related to Cyprus, an island famous for its rich copper deposits in Roman times.
