The word “serendipity” comes from a former name for which island?

I am happy to learn how this word came into the English language, and where it came from! I didn't know this and the Dictionary doesn't go into any detail of its origin.

I love that word but often use it as serindipidous Sure the spelling is off but mostly people get my gist
