The question doesn't specify in which country. In the UK we didn't have colour transmission until 1970's. Therefore it's a bad question.

I worked at a store that sold color TV's in 1965. The color was so bad!!! & the price was over $500. A big rip-off.

CoolArcane84805, Well, I haven't met anyone who has seen broadcast in colour in the '50s or even '60s. I also thought 1977 was the right answer.

Player #724643, I was looking for one of the answers to be in the 1960's, also. No one I knew had a color tv before then and certainly not my family!

SloaneRanger2019, I was under the impression that there was a big push toward color broadcast transmission in the UK in 1953 in the run-up toward the coronation. Am I wrong?

SloaneRanger2019, as me stated I'm pretty sure the coronation of the queen in 1953 was the first colour transmission. There was even a Dr. Who episode based around it.

this isn't right. I remember when my family went to my aunt's to watch Bonanza in color I was 11 or 12. this would have been 1959 or summer of 1960. The date you have puts me around 3 when tv was still in it's infantcy 😂

I cut my finger badly on my right hand as a youngster in Washington state in 1961. After stitching and bandaging, kind neighbors invited me to watch their color TV and we watched Bonanza. It was a special thing to have a color TV and few shows were broadcast in color. I'm positive about the date because I was just learning to write script in 3rd grade (9 years old) and had to do it with my left hand.

March 3, 1966 was first broadcast in colour in Britain and also first in Europe. No until the 1970's were there regular colour broadcasts in Britain on BBC 2.

Edwardsausagefingers, Then it must have been a test broadcast. The first official colour broadcast in the UK was late 1969. Hence me thinking it was the 1970s.

I believe you are incorrect when TV began to broadcast in color. I'm old enough to remember the 1st presidential debate being in B & W in 1959 with Kennedy % Nixon. And all of broadcasting during the major part of the 60's being B & W. look it up.
