the Carpenters were the only ones my grandmother would let me play their records when she was home. She enjoyed Karen's voice, said that she could her the words of their songs.

Player Say what!?
Karen was also an outstanding drummer but to her dismay, they wanted her up front. That move contributed to her personal problems.

The other day I was reading Paul McCartney called the “Most Beautiful Female Voice” signer, I liked their music, a female drummer was a kind of turn on for me too…That 50’s, 60’s, 70’s music was great.

They owned the Carpenter Ranch near Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Near my home.

I so miss Karen so much!! Beautiful one of a kind voice!! No one cud sing like her! And she started out as their drummer!! Wow! Thank Goodness Paul Williams heard her sing during a Rehearsal for the New song he’d written called close to you!! He suggested that she sing it alone up front with Richard being the background vocals, and changed the upbeat to a ballad!! I live in Downey California and they were from there so our library has a shrine of the Carpenters! It’s beautiful!!
