On the ballots, in addition to the candidates that the parties have nominated, there is a blank line for each voter to write the name of whoever they want. It is what is called the 'walk-in candidates', something like that in a very liberal translation could be called 'the last-minute candidates', who did not meet the deadline to apply and whose name was printed on the ballots .

The United States is a strong country and I am glad we are able to vote for a candidate I never used the blank line to fill in the name. We may not agree with who was nominated but life goes on ..
