Steven Spielberg tells the story that the first time he met John Williams was for their collaboration on “Jaws”. Williams sat down at the piano and said to Spielberg, “This is my idea for the music for the shark” and played the two-note theme now so familiar. Spielberg says that he thought to himself, “Oh, my God, this man is going to ruin my movie.” The rest is history.
