What do earth-boring dung beetles eat?

They are almost essential in cattle areas to keep the flies under control. Australia has indigenous dung beetles but they have adapted to marsupial poo, so cattle effective ones have had to be imported. I live in a beef and dairy area and the increase in blowfly and housefly populations are really noticeable if field seeding with the dung beetles is allowed to lapse.

Regardless of what they consume, they are quite lively & the coloration varies.
