Which country is informally known as Holland?

Turquoise lady, native dutch often still refer to their country as Holland.

So where did the name Holland come from?

Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao are also islands in the Caribbean within the Kingdom of The Netherlands. Each of these islands has an autonomous status within the Kingdom.

In Hungarian it's actually called Hollandia.

I had no idea that Holland was NOT a country! This is really informative!

Well we learnt about lots of countries especially Netherlands my maths/history teacher spelt Netherlands with Holland then somehow it came into my memory ever so lol.

How did I know this? Well in my school my maths/history teacher told us about like football and how they were playing from different counties.
