In which year did the first flight in a hot air balloon take place?

I saw an ad. in Craigslist or similar. They were trying to sell a hot air balloon. For a moment I thought, I should buy that , that would be fun. I am still alive today, so you know I didn't. Not that they are dangerous themselves. Just buying one from Craigslist, and never been in one let alone piloted was a crazy idea.
