Alopecia causes what to be lost from the body?

I lost all my hair and body hair l was lucky I got my hair back on my head but not on my body. I was 31

I had a dog with that condition and the vet told me to give her daily fish oil tablets. She ended up with a beautiful coat of fur. Would that work for people?
