Which animal can turn saltwater into freshwater?
Correct answer: Penguin
Sharon
This is amazing. I have never thought about water consumption processes before. Good bit of trivia to know.
Clueless8673
Interesting. But the question asks which animal can turn saltwater into freshwater and the answer is none, but penguins can remove salt from their blood. 🥴

Clueless8673, Exactly! Wrong wording.
I am not a number.
Davy, Livingston, do you ever bother reading the Wikipedia articles before criticising it? I've seen you do it a few times now and each time you're wrong.
The question is set by someone else who then copies text from wiki, often skewing it. In this case, wiki makes no reference to "converting saltwater to fresh water" but the explanation taken from wiki is fair.
The fault is with the question setter, not wiki.

Penguin is one of my favourite birds.

This explanation makes no sense. The gland may regulatw the penguins salt level in the blood, but does not filter water or convert salt water to fresh.

Wiki says:
The penguin excretes the salt byproduct as a brine through its bill. Often, the fluid drips out, and this gives the appearance of a runny nose. However, the fluid may also be sneezed out. In the absence of saltwater, caused by captivity, the supraorbital gland will lie dormant as it has no other purpose.
Interesting…
