Who wrote the horror novel "The Shining", which was adapted into a 1980 film of the same name?

Stephen king writes all the horror films! Mostly anyway.

My favorite Author. S.King was brought up in the town next to mine. I've read all of his books, and watched all movies produced from his writings. Unfortunately I've not read any of his wife's works. Yet! He's a great guy and good company to hang with.
