Player #41257315, it's for lack of food in that region, not in the world. I'm thinking people always had to learn to cook and eat whatever they could find in the region they lived in. Wars and famine tought people a lot. And it didn't happen only in poor countries. Think of porridge (which I like myself) or pizza, they were prepared and eaten by the poor people. Western civilisations always had their weird recipes, it's not just Africa or Asia.
