They said "only a diamond can cut a diamond".

cool info really appreciated, but i am just a bit concerned about the term used for diamonds. Diamonds are minerals - meaning their internal structure and chemical composition are definite. The term 'rock' is only used for a solid substance that is formed by aggregates of many different mineral grains that are fused, cemented or bounded together.

Lloyd M., I see. So basically rocks always consists of several elements? Thanks for clarifying!

These are all minerals, technically NOT rocks. Rocks are made of more than one mineral as a rule, though there are some exceptions.

Stones are rated 1 to 10 of hardness. 1 & 2 is crashed by your nail. The first type I remember we were using as light natural glass because you can see through that. 3 is crashed by nickel coin. 4 & 5 is crashed by iron knife. 7 is quartz even knife cannot crashes that. 8 is topaz 9 is emerald and 10 is dimond.
