During World War II, what were the Oscar statuettes made of?

I am not someone who likes to bring money into everything but I wonder whether, due to their rarity, that they are not more collectable than others.

Metal shortages, victory gardens, rationing ... It's hard to grasp how much the war affected life on the home front. The way the entire country pulled together for a common cause seems almost mythical in today's age of division.
