Shaun David, most definitely 'white washing'. My whole adolescent education in Australia was all this. I've grown up to now see that 'white man bad'

Yeah, Dutch, Portuguese & some native in Philippines came to Australia first. It’s in the book. But it is what it is now. No complaints just happy to be here. Australia is way better to those countries colonies by Dutch or Portuguese. Just saying.

bribiepete, This is common knowledge. Actually the Chinese discovered Australia. Won't find that in your "world washing" books.

There was also a sort of "English washing" in history at school in Australia. We were often taught that "Captain Cook discovered Australia" in 1770. Truth is that several Dutch mapped the west and north of Australia (1606 onwards) and all of Tasmania (1642).
