Shakin Stevens turned professional in 1968 aged 20. From then until about 1977 Stevens was lead singer of the Rock n Roll band called Shakin Stevens and the Sunsets. They recorded about 6 albums but non charted in the UK or elsewhere that I know of. Stevens had his first UK chart hit in 1980 which was a cover version of a obscure 1950s song called Hot Dog. In the 1960s The Beatles had the most weeks on the UK singles charts, in 1970s Elton John , in 1980s Shakin Stevens.
