Sakura is the national flower of which country?

According to my Japanese brother in law and japanese friends chrysanthemum is recognized as the national flower in their country because it is the Imperial Emblem of Japan.

Japan does not have an official national flower. However, both cherry blossom and chrysanthemum are considered unofficial national flowers.
