What does the "Q" stand for in the cotton swabs product called "Q-tips"®?

You can damage your eardrums using cotton buds

we call them cotton buds never heard of Q tips

I don’t live in the USA but have heard them called Q Tips in Britain we call dipers nappies, faucets taps sidewalks pavements and spell Colour correctly so Q tips are indeed Cotton buds!
