0ne of my coworkers, when I worked in fast food in the mid 80s used to just watch her crew workers just make mistakes, because of their own inexperience. she would just time to see how long it would take them to figure it out on their own.

Not sure that Billdvdman has given the best example. In a properly functioning business, your coworkers should all be on the same team and working in the same direction. You might see your competitors in a different light though.
