Of approximately how many islands does New Zealand consist?

nz only has 3 islands.nth, sth & stewart island.600? where did u get that info.

Kiwozzie, there ARE about 600 islands above water. most are small. Most are remnants of larger islands that have sunk or eroded to below sea level.

The North Island is the mainland, then the South Island and then Stewart Island. NOT 600 Islands - that are underwater?! If they are undersea they are not islands! I was born there!
