In Greek mythology, which dangerous creatures sang to lure unwary sailors on to rocks?

Sirens lured people towards danger, whereas we use sirens to warn people away from danger

Ironic how sirens lured people to danger and now a days we use sirens to warn people of danger? They should probaly rename that.
