Who invented a system of reading and writing for use by the blind or visually impaired?

I spent my life teaching Braille to blind students. It is indeed a very ingenious and effective method of reading and writing for the blind.

In French his name is pronounced "bry."

Amazing what mankind can achieve when one of the main senses are lost.
