Which country is considered the birthplace of ballet?

I did not know this, that's why I love this game. Every day you learn something new is a great day.

I always thought the birthplace of ballet was France...and that was not even an option! Ooooops!!

the vocabulary of ballet seems to be French as in pas de deux and Jeter.

Vel, I did. I took ballet, tap dancing, hula and Polynesian dance classes in California as a child. I always thought it originated in France. Most all ballet dance moves are in french terminology. Huh!?

Vel, I thought it was Russia, also not a choice.
