Cannot believe anyone would want to intentionally harm any animal, especially the majestic elephant.

My village is in Bauchi State, we have the Yankari Game Reserve there, and the animals are free to roam anywhere they like, we had a massive elephant, we call her Kaka i.e grandma in Hausa, who comes out to play with children no matter the time of the day, even if it was in the moonlight, but the moment she hears an adults voice, she start grumbling and takes off, now I know why....

The depth of their emotional attachments to their fellow elephants is so touching. They mourn for their dead loved ones the way we do! Some even becoming clinically depressed and have serious trouble moving on from the death of another elephant they felt connected to. They have a level of empathy that is remarkable. They are truly amazing creatures. This is why it is so heartbreaking to me to witness their suffering at the hands of human beings! It is just plain evil.

I’ll never forget when there was a traveling circus that passed through Iowa when I was there attending music school. I saw the way that the attendants looking after the elephants would use whips and would be very aggressive in their tactics of controlling the elephants. When it was my turn to climb a ladder and approach the elephants to touch one of them, I simply placed my hand on the elephant and said, “I’m so sorry that you have to live like this.” The elephant literally drop tears from its eye. I have never loved elephants more than after that moment.

Not a fan of circuses and zoos or anywhere animals are forced to perform or kept for years in too-small enclosures. And if your heart aches for abused animals, look up bear bile farms. Together we could do something to stop that cruelty.

Player #21387757walkalot, Many zoos are trying to provide a more natural habitat for elephants and other animals and they are no longer in cages or alone. Still it's not as ideal as a natural preserve where they can roam free.
