What does a Mexican burrito consist of?

Years ago when you would visit Mexico, you would not find “Burritos” on the menu, you would ask for a “Taco” and specify you wanted it in a flour tortilla and what I know of a “Burrito” it does come with lettuce, and tomatoes, you might want beans, potatoes and or rice, a mild or hot chile pepper, salsa takes place of the peppers. Then your meat preference. Burritos are like Chop Suey ( which nowadays you don’t see on menus, I think) these foods are a “Americanized” version, to suit other ethnicities, nationalities etc. Too much info to write and comment, maybe it will provoke you to study more. I love this game much and at 66 years old. I enjoy the articles the comments. And of course I like to input when I can. I am never here to offend, the teacher in me, is to open the eyes of the student, never stop studying!

Mr_Hve_Fun, Yes, I agree with all that you said. My family is Latino and we were raised calling a burrito a taco. When I first saw a menu with the word burrito, I didn't know what it was.

MeSmartU2, Hope not to offend, trying to be PC here and merely to add on. You are correct in that the explanation stated that they have been "Americanized". However, Ethnic foods are "adjusted" to accommodate the general population of that particular location. My cousin has a Latino establishment in an Asian country and he has had to adjust some of his dishes. It is essential to experiment with food, along with our own evolution.
