RICK-N-BACHER, They get paid. There was a recent story about a climber who needed rescuing but didn't want to pay the Sherpas the $10,000 rescue fee. (Another climber, a stranger to her, paid the fee.) That's just one example. I don't have any other info; I guess you could look it up.
