So I am wondering how does the very rare calico male come about?
EVE
I love all cats, of all colors. They are all beautiful and highly intelligent. Plus very earth sensitive and they also hunt mice and other kinds of rodents.

ChrisH, hey Chris. I'm hoping that I can potentially solidify the question you asked, which was a good one. Although I have 2 PhD's both, of scientific evidentiary knowledge-based, heir go beholden there in & I, am in no way a feline expert or researcher. I am familiar with chromosomal, gene, axis strands identifying traits & which chromosomes "add up" 2 create what become the physical identifiers in all living things…..in summation we know that only females can create this pattern normally. In rare cases, a male cat born with an extra X chromosome may also produce this pattern.

ChrisH, it depends on the colour ways of parents.
Sara
mine is the same way
