What was John McAfee, pictured below, renowned for?

John McAfee was arrested at Barcelona airport in October 2020 on a warrant issued by prosecutors in Tennessee who were seeking up to three decades of imprisonment for allegedly evading more than $4 million in taxes. He subsequently commited suicide in a Spanish prison. I recently watched an interesting documentary about him on Netflix.
