I have a lot of respect for pigeons. They are doves, after all and are quite smart. We did have a recent problem with them landing and sleeping on our windowsill. You can imagine what they left behind. Other than that I think they’re amazing birds. They adapted to our cities so well. They think of them as the canyons of the Southwestern United States. They can also recognize themselves in mirrors. Not to many animals can do that. They have very strong homing instincts which is why they’re very hard to get rid of once they establish themselves on a perimeter. We got an ultrasonic pigeon repeller. It took a week or two but the pigeons are completely gone. Yay!!

Sar, I think it's just that the balance of how many birds of each species is. Where I live, I haven't heard many songbirds this year. Wood Pigeons are too abundant... but so are humans.
