The term “Greek” did not exist in the antiquity, it was used for the first time during the Roman period. The Hellenic people, as they were called back then, never considered the ancient Macedonians as Hellenes and called them barbarians (which meant someone who speaks a foreign language). Don’t forget what Demosthenes wrote: “not only no Greek, nor related to the Greeks, but not even a barbarian from any place that can be named with honors, but a pestilent knave from Macedonia, whence it was never yet possible to buy a decent slave" (Third Philippic, 31) So, don’t refer the ancient kingdom of Macedonia as “Greek” and respect what the ancient Hellenes have said and written in their time.
