We saw some amazing petroglyphs in Monument Valley in Arizona.

There are petroglyphs at Mesa Verde, near the Four Corners area of Colorado. There are amazingly well-preserved cliff dwellings that were built by the Pueblo people.

Today, with expression, it's considered graffiti, rather then slavery or a commissioned venture.
