What is binary?

It is nice to get an occasional math question, or computer science question, if you prefer. I have led/coached a competitive math team in Texas for 28 years. My students have learned to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in binary(base 2), as well as other bases. They also must be able to convert numbers from one base to another. This is at the high school level.

Oldie but a goodie. There are 10 kinds of people in the world. Those that understand binary and those that don't.

Base 10 system is called as Decimal Number System Base 2 system is called as Binary Number System Base 8 system is called as Octal Number System Base 16 system is called as Hexadecimal Number System.
