How many phalanges does a human thumb have?

I don't understand the objections to the question and description. By some definitions, the thumb is a finger. The phalanges are the bones.

HipVelociraptor22874, the question was worded perfectly clearly. The other fingers have three phalanges; the thumb has two phalanges. The question was not worded ‘weirdly’ at all.

After reading that description, I still didn’t know what phalanges were. Couldn’t you just say they are the bones in the fingers? I had to look it up elsewhere.
