What were the first jigsaw puzzles made of?

Misnomer or not, jigsaw implied wood

We have an old wooden jigsaw puzzle that I used to play with in my youth. A nice durable piece that was passed to my mother, to me, to my son & hopefully for generations to come.

We have one that’s double sided and almost identical on both sides … slightly different for a good challenge

RushMama2112, yes, it’s not the same but BUT pieces rarely get lost like a real, physical puzzle piece. But very fun and when you place a piece correctly it makes a little “snapping” noise

Hence a jigsaw is usually used for wood.

And now you can do them digitally.
