I asked my Indian Aunt if she preferred the term Indian or Native American. She said we were Indians long before we were called Native Americans. So I called her my little Indian Aunt. She was one of the most knowledgeable, interesting, hard working people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She taught me so much about her culture. I was able to attend her funeral and burial service which was one of the most meaningful things I have ever been a part of. A lot of the ceremony took place where she lived on the "Rez" and it was beautiful.

The reservation as it is called was the place were the Native people were taken from their lands which were sacred to them and herded like cattle that the American government saw fit to place them which was unfit for man or beast. The real story about this would be learning about the Trail of Tears

RichestGulf9, it s offensive to take their land and confine them.

If they are governed under a Federal Bureau of Indian ( should be Native American) Affairs they are not really ruled by “Indians”
