Paige, I sense that religion is about to rear its head, as is usual on every science question. You know, if you believe in God, he wrote the laws of physics. Author of the universe and all that. He gave you higher intelligence so you could learn and wonder at his creation. Science is the way we learn about the wonders. If God exists, He is the Master Scientist. God and science are only incompatible if you (or your religion) make it that way.

So Mike T - what is the alternative explanation? We don’t know you hence no ridicule. Plus, most of us playing this game like to learn things and may be more open-minded than the average bear.

There's also geological evidence that supports this theory.

Mike T, Hi Mike/All, Ridiculed or not…Noah’s flood was not the first flood the earth experienced…It was however the last one as God said He would not destroy the earth with water again. Just a thought 💭.

The main geological alternative to the meteor theory was volcanic eruptions in India which happened at around the same time, but would explain the KT boundary Iridium levels, or the discovery of the meteor crater.

Mike T, that' because the is no scientific evidence to support those "alternative explanations".

Well, there is an alternative explanation to these mass extinctions, flooding and finding fish fossils in places they shouldn't be. But, unfortunately, people who mention it are just ridiculed.
